For my final project in an audio and filmmaking class, we had to interview someone and bring out a narrative through the things they wanted to talk about. I approached my dad and asked what he would be interested in talking about. When he brought up some stories about the hardships his family went through immigrating to Canada, I knew this was the story we needed to unravel.
Assignment
Develop and showcase your filmmaking skills by leading a crew of 3 to produce a cinematic interview. Learn how to plan and execute a shoot and edit a cohesive narrative.
Goal
To tell the story of my family’s journey immigrating to Canada through my dad’s perspective. Additionally, to create a mini-documentary that also serves as a commentary on the experiences of other Chinese-Canadians and our identity of work and family.
